Mmm, I remember a few years ago when I was on tour with Mogwai, Stuart forced me to listen to Disintegration by The Cure, swearing it'd change my life. It didn't. But as usual something good has taken a few years to sink in and now I'm enjoying it. Nice music, cheese sandwich(e) and the threat of a looming tour.

So, let's talk shite.

I played the Fence Records Homegame festival in Anstruther at the weekend. Jenny was ill and couldn't make it so Stevie played a few extra chords on the guitar and it all worked out fine. Pictish Trail, King Creosote, Down the Tiny Steps, Slow Club and Mystery Juice were good. Ate lots of chips and visited a secret underground nuclear bunker. This weekend surely won't be as good as that.

The next single is Fight Like The Night, not sure of a release date yet or b-sides but I'll start thinking about it seriously soon. We're playing the Camden Crawl festival thing in London next week and I've just been told that the venue is a Thai restaurant. This is amazing news, what a run of luck I'm having.

Is anyone reading this a converted Bright Eyes fan? Seriously, I want to know if those gigs worked.

Also, I want to do a special gig somewhere but I can't think of anything good/fun/unique. Email suggestions here mailto@malcolmmiddleton.co.uk and the winner can win something.

Still waiting to hear about festivals, T in The Park and Summer Sundae are confirmed though.

And the lyrics to A Brighter Beat are now online in the archive section of my website.

Ok, I'm off to write a song about how shite it is writing newsletters to virtual people.

Happy Spring,
Malcolm.
