Last summer was spent recording my third album in Glasgow with producer Tony Doogan. The outcome is A Brighter Beat, which it isn't really, but who wants that. It'll be available on cd, cdx, 12" vinyl, and digital download from the 26th of February through Full Time Hobby records. The track listing is:We're All Going To Die
Fight Like The Night
A Brighter Beat
Death Love Depression Love Death
Fuck It, I Love You
Stay Close Sit Tight
Four Cigarettes
Somebody Loves You
Up Late At Night Again
Superhero Songwriters
The album artwork features photographs by Glasgow based artist David Shrigley, and the 12" vinyl has a gatefold sleeve which is really smart.
The first single is also called A Brighter Beat and is released on the 22nd January on 7" vinyl and digital download. The b-side is Point Of Light and is quite nice, but at the last minute I decided to remove it from the album because it has the word "Google" in it. And also because albums with 11 songs are usually bad luck I find. And I was never really that happy with the fifth verse.
There is also a video for A Brighter Beat which you can watch on Myspace or download from the website. I'm not in it, that guy isn't me, he's an actor.
What else. Touring. All dates are up in the live section of the website. I'll be supporting Sophia and Badly Drawn Boy in Jan/Feb and then the UK tour in March will be a headline one.
You can listen to A Brighter Beat and Fuck It, I Love You on Myspace. That's it for now, Cheers, Malcolm.
